About

"Math is the language of the universe. So, the more equations you know, the more you can converse with the cosmos." ~Neil deGrasse Tyson Math was my first true love. Numbers and I have always understood one another, from when I started learning math in pre-school to when I started tutoring it in 8th grade. It's the subject that introduced me to teaching, as I'd help my friends through our classes in middle school. When I was 16, I got my first professional tutoring job teaching math to K-12 students, with most of my students being in elementary school. While teaching arithmetic was a major part of the job, the real duty I had to those kids was inspiring an interest in math, which starts with forming a basic understanding of numbers. In college, I deepened my knowledge of math and its applications, mostly within the realms of engineering and computer sciences. Since graduating, I've continued studying and teaching math across many different disciplines. Math is everywhere around us. It is the reality we experience. While calculus and differential equations are interesting and complex concepts that are fun to learn, having a good number sense and a solid understanding of basic arithmetic is SO much more important. So start there! And explore the wonderful world of math!
